Thursday: Janet, Sara, Michael, Naomi and Amanda spent a hot day visiting St Paul's Atanga, the same place where Tear Fund had supported Church and Community Mobilisation project, partly financed by Christ Church Clifton.
To Janet's tremendous surprise, one of the old ladies, Gemma recognised and remembered her from her visit 4 years ago. We were all inspired by the stories told of radical transformation. Together members of the church had formed a savings and loan association, we heard about a licked box where all money and records were kept with 3 separate padlocks and key holders, all women!
Money can be loaned for school fees or to buy oxen or pugs or medicine. People could now afford to eat 3 meals not one a day. Of the 36 in this group 30 were women, many were widows.
Transformed lives meant permanent brick houses not mud huts, children able to go to school, trees planted and income generating projects started. Quotes from the members,"now people know the Bible is the word of Life, it can change lives, when one person is in need we will support one another".

It was such an inspiring visit, praise God!
We drove back to Kitgum where we found a small but perfectly stocked supermarket where we bought, tea leaves, a toy and a picture frame!
