Arriving rather late, we were greeted by Bishop Sheldon and his full diocesan team at the Ankole Diocese offices on the Ruharo Hill campus.

A warm welcome and really good to be able to share the value of the link from both Ankole and KSG Deanery sides and introduce Ali Rowe as the new chair of KSG link committee.

The old bishop's house has been converted into the East African Revival Museum curated by Nancy (shown in photo below). An engaging and important resource that documents and brings alive the East African Revival. The Revival shaped the Anglican church in Uganda from the 1920s to the current day and important for western Christians to understand and appreciate. A side room of the museum charts the history of Ankole Diocese and features a photo and bio of Joan Hall (who remains a regular on the Thursday Uganda link prayer Zoom calls)

Miss Joan Hall biography in the Ankole Diocese History Room.

This was followed by a tour of the mission hospital. The photo below is Mr Keith Waddell who at 86 is still a practising eye surgeon as Chris caught up with him on his way into theatre.

A quick stop at Revival Radio 93.2 FM to be interviewed live on air (well done Chris and Ali with contributions from the team)

The afternoon was spent in the bustling downtown Mbarara for the purchasing and fitting of dresses (decisions, decisions...)

Afternoon tea with Canon Newton and his wife Juliet : a very warm welcome and moving testimony from Newton about his dramatic calling to be an evangelist for Christ.

Then we were dropped off at our various host families around Mbarara.

Whew!

James
